The Giant Magellan Telescope has a segmented Adaptive Secondary Unit based on 7 indepenedent mirrors. Each mirror has 1.05m diameter and 672 actuators.

ADS (acting as prime contractor) and Microgate, also in collaboration with the Aerospace Department of Politecnico di Milano, have completed in August 2010 the Phase A study for the segmented adptive secondary.
